Become a Tutor

 

Why Tutor?

· To help adults (age 16 and up, not in school) learn basic reading, writing and numeracy skills in a one to one or small group setting.

 

How Do I Become A Tutor?

· All tutors must complete a 12 hour Laubach Basic Tutor Workshop plus yearly upgrading workshops.

 

What Are The Tutors Responsibilities?

· Tutor your student a minimum of one session per week for 2 hours; two sessions a week if possible for a minimum of one year

· Provide your student with encouragement

· Meet your student's immediate literacy needs

· Keep a written record of your tutoring hours and preparation time

· Keep a written record of student progress

· Report progress and tutoring hours to the office

· Call your student if you must cancel an appointment

· Call the office if you have any concerns or questions
